Lorena Díaz Stephens is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt, as costume designer for this new production of Aribert Reimann's Melusine in the Bockenheimer Depot. She studied social sciences and design in her home town of Santiago de Chile and in Barcelona, and gained her masters in Media Architecture at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. She has worked as a designer, set and costume designer in Spain, Chile, Austria and Germany for many films, plays and operas at places including the Stuttgart, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Braunschweig and Hannover state operas, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Oper Leipzig, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Theater Heidelberg and the Kammerspiele in Munich. She and Aileen Schneider stage a new production of Carmen at the Staatstheater Augsburg in 2025/26.
