Tanja Hofmann,  a freelance costume and set designer who works at home and abroad, studied at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Graz with Wolfram Skalicki and Hans Schavernoch and assisted at the Bayreuth Festival. She has worked with many directors including Helen Malkowsky, Maximilian von Mayenburg, Andreas Baesler, Frank Hilbrich (Lohengrin in Bremen), Sigrid Herzog (Berg's Wozzeck in Würzburg), and George Schmiedleitner including productions of Maderna's Satyricon at the 2018 Salzburg Easter Festival and, most recently, Rossini's Guillaume Tell at the Landestheater in Linz. Projects with Andreas Kriegenburg included this production of Tosca, Don Giovanni at the Semperopera in Dresden, Rigoletto at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Lady Macbeth of Mtzensk at the 2017 Salzburg Festival, Les Huguenots at the Opéra national de Paris and Babylon at the Staatsoper in Berlin. She recently worked on Simon Boccanegra at the 2019 Salzburg Festival, Platée at Oper Göteborg and Enescu's Œdipe at the Bregenz Festival.
