Seoul born bass Seungwon Choi is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he took part in an »Opera for Children« version of Donizetti’s Der Liebestrank / The Love Potion in 2019/20 which was followed by his debut as a Flemish Deputy in Don Carlo, to sing a Servant in this new production of Elektra. He gained his bachelors at Yonsei University in the town of his birth before going to study for his masters in operatic singing at the HfMDK in Frankfurt in 2017, passing in 2020. He was a member of the Opera Studio at Theater Freiburg from 2020/21 - 2021/22 and took part in masterclasses held by Helmut Deutsch and Claudia Eder. His repertoire includes Mozart’s Bartolo, Osmin and Sarastro, the Commendatore and Don Alfonso, Colline in La Bohème, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore, the Night Watchman in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, a Monk in Don Carlo, Landlords in Manon and The Cunning Little Vixen and Verdi’s Requiem. He won the jury’s special prize at the 2018 Marmande International Opera Singing Competition and the audience prize at the 2019 Meistersinger Competition in Neustadt a.d.W.
