The Romanian soprano Florina Ilie is back in Frankfurt, where she was a member of the Opera Studio (2018 - 2020) then Ensemble (2020 - 2022), to sing Micaëla in this performance of Carmen. She joined the ensemble at the Vienna State Opera in 2023, where she has thrilled audiences with roles including Micaëla, Adina (L'elisir d'smore), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), Sophie (Werther), Marzelline (Fidelio), Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos), the Forest Bird (Siegfried) and Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel). During her time in Frankfurt roles included 1st Dryad (Rusalka), an Italian Singer (Capriccio), Gilda (Rigoletto), Norina (Don Pasquale), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Adina, Ninetta (La gazza ladra), Sister Constance (Dialogues des Carmélites), Lauretta, Sophie and Valencienne in The Merry Widow. She studied at the National Music University in Bucharest and University for Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna and won prizes at national singing competitions in Romania and the Special Prize at the International Otto Edelmann Singing Competition in Vienna. Since making her professional debut at the tender age of 17, at the National Opera in Bucharest, she has appeared at many leading opera houses, including the Opéra Théâtre de Metz Métropole, the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur and Opéra de Toulon. During the 2022/23 season she made her debuts at Theater St. Gallen, singing Léontine in L’amant anonyme, the Opéra d’Avignon, singing Fiorilla in Il turco in Italia, and Opéra de Marseille,  as Marguerite in Les Huguenots.
