Brenda Rae is back in Frankfurt to sing the title role in this new production of Alban Berg's Lulu. Her many roles for the company, including Elvira in Bellini's I Puritani, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Violetta (La Traviata), Amina (La sonnambula), Gilda (Rigoletto), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Zdenka (Arabella) made her a great favourite with audiences and press during her years as a member of the Ensemble. She made her debuts at the Berlin, Hamburg and Munich state operas singing Zerbinetta and her first Lulu in William Kentridge's production for English National Opera. Recent European highlights have included her return to the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich for Handel's Semele, followed by Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Zerbinetta on tour to Hong Kong. She has sung Lucia di Lammermoor and Ophelia (Hamlet) at the Opera Bastille in Paris and the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Norina (Don Pasquale) and Amina (La sonnambula) at the Vienna State Opera. A much sought-after recitalist, she appears regularly at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg and Wigmore Hall in London. Her discography includes Wagner's The Fairies and Ariadne auf Naxos (live from Oper Frankfurt - get the CDs! - OehmsClassics), Milhaud's Die Oresteia des Aischylos (Naxos, nominated for a Grammy), Lowell Liebermann's Little Heaven (Albany Records) and Offenbach's Fantasio (Opera Rara). Plans include Aminta (Die schweigsame Frau) at the Staatsoper in Berlin and Gilda (Rigoletto) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Zürich Opera.
