The British tenor John Findon, making his debut at Oper Frankfurt singing Andrey in this new production of Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa, and winner of the 2025 Critics’ Circle Award, received wonderful press for recent roles around the world. Future plans include house and role debuts at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, with Laca in Jenůfa and the Opéra national de Lorraine, with Erik in The Flying Dutchman. He returns to the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples to sing the title role in Peter Grimes before making his debut at Santa Fe Opera in the summer of 2027 and returning to the Glyndebourne Festival. Concert work during the 2026/27 season includes Mahler's Lied von der Erde at the Royal Ballet and Opera in London, Siegmund in Die Walküre with the Stuttgart Staatsorchester under Nicholas Carter and Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, under Vasily Petrenko, and Ulster Orchestra, under Jac van Steen. Last season he sang Peter Grimes at Opera North, made his debut in the US, as Lennie Small in Of Mice and Men in Des Moines, and sang Don José in Carmen at English National Opera. Concert work included Weber's Oberon (Sir Huöon von Bordeaux) with the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestra at the BBC Proms under Sir Mark Elder. Other highlights in concert halls included Beethoven 9 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Tan Dun, Berlioz’ Requiem with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Nicholas Collon, Salome with the London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Antonio Pappano and Lady Macbeth von Mtzensk (Sinowi) with the BBC Philharmonic at the BBC Proms. Earlier highlights included Peter Grimes at the De National Opera in Amsterdam, Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Opéra de Rouen, Števa in Jenůfa at the Royal Ballet and Opera, Narraboth in Salome at the Teatro di San Carlo and Andrey in Mazeppa at Grange Park Opera.
