Felix Kroll

Felix Kroll tirelessly champions the accordion by being involved in all kinds of music making. He took up a professorship at the Udk in Berlin in 2017, after studying in Bremen, Turku (Finland) and Münster. He yo-yos beween contemporay and classical works and jazz. He and the successful band The Frontier Breakers  perform arrangements of German folk songs in a modern and versatile way. A member of the RADAR Ensemble and other projects, he's taken part in world premieres of many works, collaborating with composers including Rebecca Saunders, Younghi Pagh-Paan, Beat Furrer, Helmut Oehring, Georg Katzer and Sidney Corbett. He's also much sought-after as a theatre musician and artistic director at places including the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, in productions directed by Uwe Eric Laufenberg and Ingo Kerkhof. He works closely with actors including Corinna Harfouch, Dagmar Manzel and Winnie Böwe for readings and recitals on stage. He's a regular guest with orchestras including the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Babelsberg Film Orchestra and the Hamburg State Opera. All rounded off by television and radio awards and many CDs which won prizes from organisations including the German Recording Prize.
