Alexander Roslavets, making his debut at Oper Frankfurt singing Kochubey in this new production of Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa, was born in Brest, White Russia, and studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatoire in St. Petersburg. He was a member of the Bolschoi in Moscow's Young Artists Programme from 2014 - 2016, the year he joined the ensemble at the Hamburg State Opera, where he has sung many leading roles. Guest engagements have taken him to places including the Metropolitan Opera New York, La Scala Milan, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in London, Zurich Opera, the Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie in Brussels, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Komische Oper in Berlin, the Glyndebourne Festival, Arena di Verona and the Salzburg Festival. During the 2023/24 season he sang the title role in Boris Godunov for the first time, at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse and Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The 2025/26 season at La Scala Milan opened with him singing Boris Ismailov in a new production ofLady Macbeth von Mtzensk conducted by Riccardo Chailly. A special project last season was his being invited by the pianist Evgeny Kissin to take part in a European tour and concert in the Carnegie Hall to mark 50 years since the day Dmitri Shostakovich died. Other roles in his repertoire include the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Banco (Macbeth), Daland (The Flying Dutchman), Méphistophélès (La Damnation de Faust), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Giorgio Talbot (Maria Stuarda), Ferrando (Il trovatore), Kaspar (Der Freischütz), Wurm (Luisa Miller), Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Colline (La bohème). Alexander Roslavets won prizes at international singing competitions including the Harbin Music Competition, the Hans Gabor Belvedere and Queen Sonja singing competitions and the Grand Prix and Audience Prize at the 2016 Éva Marton competition in Budapest.
