The American baritone Finn Sagal joins the Opera Studio in the 2026/27 season, making his house debut as Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, a role he sang when Renée Flemming directed her first opera at Aspen Opera Theater in the summer of 2025. While a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Opera Studio at the Ryan Opera Center roles included Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro and A Policeman in The Listeners (Missy Mazzoli). He studied at UCLA before going to the Yale School of Music, where roles included Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress), Junius (The Rape of Lucretia) and Le Gouverneur (Le Comte Ory). He won 3rd prize at the 2025 »Neue Stimmen« singing competition and sang in a concert for the prizewinners in the Apollosall at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, the same year he was awarded the Richard Tucker Music Foundation's Sara Tucker Study Grant . He also took part in other summer programmes and festivals, including the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco (2023), the Aspen Opera Theater (2025) and the 2022 VocalARTS program.
