Tomoya Kawamura

Tomoya Kawamura comes from Tokyo and works as an actor, theater performer, dramaturge and director, combining 15 years experience in Japanese Noh theatre with elements from Western theatre which he became involved intensively with after moving to Berlin in 2019. Recent engagements have including taking part and choreographing Andrea Breth's productions of Ich hab die Nacht geträumt at the Ensemble in Berlin and Madama Butterfly at the Festival in Aix-en-Provence. He is active in Berlin's free scene, performing, amongst others with the English Theater, GlogauAir and the Neuen Bühne Friedrichshain. Recent productions he directed and worked on as dramaturge included Suspended Earth (Hosek Contemporary and Acker Stadt Palast Berlin), the Geistzeit Projekt and bei LatinX (Neue Bühne Friedrichshain). He was also involved in Tanzlocation DOCK11 for many years. He is currently preparing a project which combines Japanese dance with the Bauhaus aesthetic, which will receive its world premieres in Dessau and Magdeburg in 2027.
