Jorge Navarro Colorado studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, rounding his training off on the Britten-Pears Programme. He's making his debut at Oper Frankfurt this evening, jumping in at very short notice to sing Nicea (from the side of the stage) in Steffani's Amor vien dal destino. During 2024/25 he took part in Il Ritorno d’Ulisse and Dido and Aeneas in Ravenna, Welcome to All the Pleasures in Brecon, Vesi's Magnificat, Momentos Estelares del Barroco Europeo in Barcelona, Terradellas Il Giuseppe Riconosciuto in Madrid, The Christmas Story in Antwerp, Cambridge und London and Scarlatti's La Santissima Annunziata at the Handel Festival in Halle. Highlights in previous seasons included making his debuts in the Grand Théâtre de Genève, singing Telemachus in Il Ritorno d’Ulisse and the Teatro La Fenice, as Gualtiero in Vivaldi's Griselda, Tempo in Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at the Buxton Festival, roles in Lotario, Rodrigo and Ariodante at the Handel Festival in Göttingen under Laurence Cummings, Stravinsky's Pulcinella and the tenor roles in El Retablo de Maese Pedro, Rinaldo (1731) with Capella Cracoviensis, Oronte in Alcina, Bajazet in Tamerlano with English Touring Opera, Settimio in Theodora at Covent Garden in London and Scipione with the Early Opera Company. Future plans include Goffredo (Rinaldo) at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe, and appearances with the Balthasar Neumann Orchester under Thomas Hengelbrock.
