Munich born Katharina Kammerloher studied the oboe before taking up singing. Daniel Barenboim invited her to join the Staatsoper in Berlin in 1993, where roles have included Rosina (Il barbiere di Sevilla), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Meg Page (Falstaff), Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande) and the Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos. She took part in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the Ring des Nibelungen and Così fan tutte productions conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Her repertoire includes Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) and a Guard and La Malaspina in Sciarrino's Macbeth and Luci mie traditrici. Recent engagements have included appearances at the Salzburg Festival, the Munich Opera Festival, the BBC Proms, in North America and Asia. She has worked with conductors including Pierre Boulez, Iván Fischer, René Jacobs, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Antonio Pappano, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Simone Young and appeared in concert with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Many of her artistic achievements have been recorded for radio and CD.
