Theresa Kronthaler is back at Oper Frankfurt, where she appeared for the first sime in 2013 as Sesto in Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto, to step in at short notice to sing Clairon in Strauss' Capriccio. She studied at the Hanns Eisler University for Music with Renate Faltin and Julia Varady and took part in masterclasses held by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Christa Ludwig and Thomas Quasthoff. After making her debut as Orlowsky (Die Fledermaus) at Geneva Opera she spent time under contract to the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Komische Oper Berlin. She has sung the title role in Bizet's Carmen at Theater Bremen, Marguerite in Berlioz’ La Damnation de Faust and Elisabetta in Gaetano Donizetti's Maria Stuarda. She made her debut at the Theater an der Wien singing Isoletta in Bellini's La Straniera, where she also performed Ophelia in the world premiere of Anno Schreier's Hamlet, Eglantine in Weber's Euryanthe and Ferdinand in the world premiere of Christian Jost's Egmont. Another recent highlight was when she made her debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid singing Clairon in a Christof Loy production of Capriccio under Asher Fisch. Other engagements have included Die Dame in Hindemith's Cardillac in Antwerp and Ghent, Fenena in Verdi's Nabucco at the Opéra de Oviedo, Rosina in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Malmö and Agnese del Maino in Bellini's Beatrice di Tenda at this year's Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca.
