Euikyung Kim
soprano
This Korean soprano fell in love with music as a child, because her father was a singer. She studied in her home town Seoul at Yonsei University and passed her bachelors with distinction. She came to Germany in 2015 to study for her masters in opera singing at the University for Music in Karlsruhe with Prof. Maria Venuti, during which time she sang in the chorus at the opera there in many productions and took on solo roles. She joined the chorus at Oper Frankfurt as soon as she gained her masters, where she has sung various solo roles, and can now be heard as Fiametta in this new production of Offenbach's The Bandits. She continued her studies with KS Julia Varady and Prof. Alois Seidlmeier. The Friends of the HfM Karlsruhe e.V. granted her a scholarship and she graduated in 2022 with the help of Dorothea Röschmann. During her studies she took part in many masterclasses, including ones held by Brigitte Fassbaender, Regina Werner, Dorothea Röschmann and the director Stefan Herheim. She enjoyed great success in university productions in Karlsruhe, as Valletto (L'incoronazione di Poppea), Zerlina, Adele (Die Fledermaus) and Euridice (Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice).
