Children's Chorus Master

Csaba Grünfelder joined Oper Frankfurt in the 2020/21 season to assist the chorus master and be in charge of the children's chorus. This Hungarian musican's first task was preparing the children for Massenet's Werther. He studied the piano at Szeged University and before coming to Frankfurt he spent time at the Landestheater in Linz, singing 2nd tenor in the chorus and working as a coach. He rehearsed the chorus there for Britten's Death in Venice and Tristan und Isolde. Work as a singer and accompanist during 2018 took him to Austria, Hungary, Spain, Slovenia and Japan. He has sung in the chorus at the Vienna State Opera, the Salzburg Festival and Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. His conducting activities have included running an ensemble of musicians from the Linz Orchestra and Bruckner University in Linz and the Liedertafel Vöcklabruck chorus from 2013 - 2014. During his career he has worked with conductors including Riccardo Muti, Kirill Petrenko, Antonio Pappano, Philippe Jordan and Ingo Metzmacher.
