Karin Jud studied fashion design at the University for Design and Art in Basel. She was as a costume assistant at the Schauspiel and Opera House in Zurich before starting to work as a freelance costume designer in 2007. She has worked with directors including Jan Bosse, Barbara Frey, Jürgen Gosch, Jürgen Flimm, Schorsch Kamerun and Matthias Hartmann. She designed the costumes for Jan Philipp Gloger's production of Der fliegende Holländer / The Flying Dutchman at the 2012 Bayreuth Festival. They have worked together often since 2007, including this production of Idomeneo at Oper Frankfurt, and the 2011 world premiere of Philipp Löhles Das Ding / The Thing at the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Other successful productions were created at Zurich Opera (Faust, Verita in Cimento), the Schaubühne in Berlin (Kasimir und Karoline), the Nationale Opera Amsterdam (Der Rosenkavalier) and Royal Opera House in London (Così fan tutte).
