The Austrian film makers Carmen Zimmermann and Roland Horvath have been creating videos with their company rocafilm for plays, operas and documentaries since 2010. They have worked regularly with Damiano Michieletto since 2012: Don Pasquale at the Opéra National de Paris, Rigoletto at the Nationale Opera Amsterdam, La damnation de Faust at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, La bohème, Falstaff (which was also seen at La Scala Milan) and La Cenerentola at the Salzburg Festival, Idomeneo at the Theater an der Wien and Die Zauberflöte and Perocco's Aquagranda (2017 Franco Abbiati Award) at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice. They worked with Claus Guth for the first time on the world premiere of Michael Jarrell's Bérénice in Paris. Their work has often been seen at the Salzburg Festival, in productions directed by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier (Giulio Cesare in Egitto, 2012), Luc Bondy (Dalbavie's Charlotte Salomon, 2014) and Philipp Stölzl (Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci, 2015) and a 2017 remake of Günther Schneider-Siemssen legendary production of Die Walküre. The have also worked with the directors Alexander Eisenach and Volker Hesse at the Schauspielhaus in Graz. They made two documentaries in Asia Zwischen Tag und Traum / Between Day and Dream (2011) and Sister Heart (2015).
