The director and video artist Manuel Braun is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he designed videos for last season's new production of Meyerbeer's L’Africaine, for this new production of La forza del destino. He has worked as a director at theatres including the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and Volkstheater in Munich. He reached an even wider operatic audience with this video designs for Tobias Kratzer's production of Le Prophète in Karlsruhe. Other productions with Tobias Kratzer have taken him to the Komische Oper Berlin and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. He designs videos for a new production of Tannhäuser at the 2019 Bayreuth Festival. This professional camera assistant and video editor worked as a VJ (Visual Jockey) before designing videos for people including Tomas Schweigen, Simon Solberg and Martin Nimsz in Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Munich. He has also worked as a music video director for people including the British artist Kate Tempest (Europe is lost). His short film Antigone was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen (a big honour). His speciality is the constant play and experimentation with various forms of media; his online production of Romeo and Juliet attracted interest from all over the world.
