Michaela Barth is back at Oper Frankfurt, after designing costumes for last season's new Aus einem Totenhaus / From A House for the Dead, for this new production of Eötvös' Tri Sestry / Three Sisters. Her costumes for David Hermann's production of Ariadne auf Naxos at the Semperoper in Dresden and the Opéra de Lausanne can be seen again this season. Future projects with David Hermann are the world premieres of Anno Schreier's Schade, dass die eine Hure war / Pity, She Was a Whore at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Andres Veiel's Let them eat money at the Deutsche Theater Berlin. Michaela Barth regularly designs costumes for productions directed by Michael Thalheimer, the most recent were Otello at Opera Vlaanderen and Les Troyens at the Hamburg State Opera, and plays in Stockholm, at the Residenztheater in Munich, the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Schaubühne Berlin. She designed the costumes for Katharina Wagner's 2007 production of Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayreuth Festival, Christof Loy's Les Troyens at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and a Monteverdi cycle. She has also worked with other directors including Hans Neuenfels, Enrico Lübbe, Holk Freytag and Karoline Gruber. Born in Munich, she trained as a tailor for women's wear and costume design at the University for the Arts in Berlin. She began her career as a costume designer at »Ratten (Rats) 07«, a theatre for the homeless in Berlin and productions for »Aufbruch«, theatre for prisoners, in der JVA Tegel.
