Hendrik Müller is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut in 2013 directing Cavalieri's Rappresentatione di anima e di corpo in the Bockenheimer Depot. He caused a nationwide sensation with his direction of the world premiere of Moritz Eggert's controversial opera Freax at Theater Regensburg and his reading of Bizet's Carmen for the same company at the opening of the 2016/17 season. His work at the Mecklenburg Staatstheater in Schwerin, Winter.Reise. (based on Schubert), Dvořák's Rusalka and Kálmán's Csárdásfürstin also drew a lot of attention. He worked in Asia for the first time in early 2016, directing a very success production of Die Zauberflöte, in Daegu, South Korea. Other important engagements in recent seasons were Leonard Bernstein's Mass at the Theater an der Wien/Neue Oper Vienna, Antonio Vivaldi's Tito Manlio at Theater Heidelberg, Claude Vivier's Kopernikus, the Double Bill Fake And Error in Freiburg and the staged, rediscovery, of Anton Schweitzer's Alceste in Weimar. These and other productions at the Dresden Staatsoper and the Handel Festival in Halle show that Hendrik Müller as an extremely versatile director.
