Fabian Wendling

Fabian Wendling is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt with Daniela Löffner’s new production of Aribert Reimann‘s L’invisible and you can see more of his work later this season with his set for Solaris, for Schauspiel Frankfurt, next door. Born in Kiel, he studied at the universities for Fine Arts in Hamburg and Fine Arts & Set Design in Dresden with Raimund Bauer and Thomas Demand. After gaining his masters in 2015 he designed installations for various festivals and exhibitions, including the Ostrale in Dresden, Kunsthalle Kiel, the Dokfest Kassel and Ruhrtriennale in Bochum. He designed sets for theatres including the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, the National Theatre in Mannheim, the Staatstheater in Mainz, Schauspielhaus in Bochum, Schauspielhaus in Düsseldorf, Schauspiel Stuttgart, Oper Chemnitz, the Bühnen in Bern, Staatstheater in Wiesbaden and Residenztheater in Munich, working with directors including Christian Friedel, Roger Vontobel, Rahel Thiel and Daniela Löffner. He and Luise Vogt’s production of Die Gewehre der Frau Carrar / Würgendes Blei at the Residenztheater in Munich was invited to the 2025 Theatertreffen in Berlin, a great honour.
