Choreographer Louisa Talbot is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt with Tannhäuser. Born in South Africa she appeared as a soloist with the Cape Dance Company when she was only 13, specialising in classic and contemporary dance. She started appearing in musicals in 2004, including Showboat, Grease, We Will Rock You and High School Musical, and choreographed works for Fugard Theatre in Cape Town, including The Rocky Horror Show, Cabaret, Funny Girl and West Side Story, receiving many nominations for the Naledi Theatre Award. She won the »Best Choreography« category at the 2019 Broadway World Award for her work on Kinky Boots, and works regularly in film, television and opera, including Mozart's Don Giovanni and Gluck's Orphée et Eurydice at Cape Town Opera. She and Matthew Wild have worked together before, on shows including Chicago at the Staatstheater in Braunschweig and Gershwin's Porgy and Bess at the Theater an der Wien, which was nominated for four (including best production) 2022 Austrian Music Theatre prizes. She recently worked at the Konzert Theatre in St. Gallen for the first time, on Rent, also directed by Matthew Wild.
