Peter DeFreitas was born in British Guayana in South America and lives in Toronto. During the last five decades he has made a name for himself as an illustrator, fashion, theatre and product designer. He has worked closely with the director Guillaume Bernardi for a long time. After three joint projects Peter DeFreitas was invited by Oper Frankfurt for another project with Guillaume Bernardi, Haydn's L'isola disabitata, which was followed in 2006 by Marc Neikrug's Through Roses - both in the Bockenheimer Depot. His costumes for Le nozze di Figaro were first seen in 2006.
