Jenny Ogilvie
Choreographer
The British born choreographer Jenny Ogilvie is working at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, on this new production of Handel’s Orlando. She works in drama and opera and regularly with the director Joe Hill-Gibbins, with whom she staged Le nozze di Figaro at English National Opera, Turnage’s Greek at Scottish Opera and the Staatsoper in Hannover, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night´s Dream at the Young Vic and Rodney Ackland’s play Absolute Hell at the National Theatre in London. Other productions have taken place at the Edinburgh Festival and the Almeida and Royal Court theatres in London. Recent operatic projects have included Il Piccolo Principe at La Scala Milan, The Cunning Little Vixen at English National Opera and Spell Book / La Liberazione di Ruggiero at Longborough Opera Festival, which she also directed. Work in German speaking countries has taken her to Oper Wuppertal and the Vienna State Opera (productions including Olga Neuwirth’s Orlando). Future plans include Carmen directed by John Fulljames at Scottish Opera. After studying dance for many years she took up Modern Languages in Oxford, spent ten years gaining experience in acting and gained her masters in Movement Studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
