Thomas Blondelle is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut in 2017 singing Belmonte in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, stepping at short notice to sing Herodes (from the side of the stage) in Salome. He joiend the ensemble at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2009, where his roles this season include the Uncle / Stranger in the world premiere of Reimann's L’Invisible, Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), the Prince (Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen/The Love for Three Oranges) and Sinowi (Lady Macbeth von Mzensk). His broad repertoire includes Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Alfredo (La traviata), Merkur (Die Liebe der Danae), Witch (Hänsel und Gretel), Herodes (Salome), Walther (Tannhäuser), Bob Boles (Peter Grimes), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Pelléas (Pelléas et Mélisande) and David (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). This Belgian tenor is a regular guest at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, where he sang Lenski (Eugene Onegin), Belmonte, Loge (Das Rheingold), the title role in Der Graf von Luxemburg, Erik in The Flying Dutchman and Matteo in Arabella. This versatile singer has also sung at Stuttgart Opera, the Staatstheater in Darmstadt, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Volksoper in Vienna, the Nationale Opera Amsterdam, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, Opéra National du Rhin in Strassburg, Cincinnati Opera, the BBC Proms and New York Philharmonic Orchestra. His is much sought after as a Lieder singer and solo albums include Dreams and Nightmares and Banalités.
