The British conductor Justin Brown is General Music Director of the Badische Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and former Music Director, and current Honorary Conductor, of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. He is internationally admired, and won many awards for his interpretation of symphonic music and operas. He recently rounded off Karlsruhe's new Ring with Götterdämmerung and enjoyed great success with the world premiere of Dorman's Wahnfried. He began his operatic career at English National Opera in London and Scottish Opera in Glasgow and is now a regular guest at Covent Garden in London, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and in Cardiff, Santa Fe, Stuttgart, Geneva, Nantes, Strassburg, Lisbon and Oslo. He will soon be making his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. He has worked with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo, St. Petersburg and Dresden philharmonics, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Justin Brown studied at Cambridge University and in Tanglewood with Seiji Ozawa and Leonard Bernstein, and then worked assisting Leonard Bernstein and Luciano Berio.
