Workshop Concerts with the Ensemble Modern
John Cage once wished his audiences »Happy New Ears«, encouraging people to welcome the challenge, and unique experience, of hearing something new. This series of events by the Ensemble Modern at Oper Frankfurt began in 1993. Every season four composers present their works, talk about how they came into being, composition technique and how they are to be performed in these special workshop concerts.
This event is dedicated to the Jordanian composer Saed Haddad (*1972), whose opera A Wintery Spring, commissioned by Oper Frankfurt and the Ensemble Modern opens on February 22 in the Bockenheimer Depot. This Happy New Ears evening also takes place in the Depot, the venue for the Ensemble Modern/Oper Frankfurt's Heim.Spiele series last season.
