Audiences in Frankfurt have already been thrilled by Gaëlle Arquez' portrayals of Debussy's Mélisande, Bizet's Carmen and Monteverdi's Nerone (L’icoronazione di Poppea) as well as Handel's Medea (Teseo), Zenobia (Radamisto) and Xerxes. She makes every character believable with her lovely, powerful voice which, as she says herself, »has always hung somewhere in the middle«. She began her studies at the Conservatoire in Paris as a soprano but has long been sought-after for great mezzo-soprano roles with which this French artist earns enormous applause at opera houses from Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, London and Vienna. »Germany – and Frankfurt in particular – interested me early on as a place to make music. Ever since my first engagement at Oper Frankfurt I felt I was part of a family.«, said this exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, who released her highly acclaimed debut album Ardente flamme in 2017. Now Gaëlle Arquez returns to Frankfurt, in recital.
Details of her programme - From France to Spain - which includes Lieder by Duparc, Delibes, Bizet, Saint-Saëns, Massenet, Ravel, Canteloube and De Falla will appear here soon.
