Paula Murrihy's back at Oper Frankfurt, where she was a member of the Ensemble from 2009 – 2017, returning last season to thrill audiences as Dejanira in a new Barrie Kosky production of Handel's Hercules, for this recital. Other triumphs in Frankfurt included Fauré's Pénélope, Carmen, Dido and L'Orontea (available on CD - OehmsClassics), Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) Dorabella (Così fan tutte), the Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) and Polinessa (Radamisto). She is much sought-after by houses including the Met in New York, Santa Fe Opera, the Bolschoi in Moscow, Gran Theatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Covent Garden in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Opera Zurich, the Staatsoper in Stuttgart and festivals in Salzburg and Edinburgh, where this Irish mezzo-soprano has sung roles including Messaggeria (L'Orfeo) Ruggiero (Alcina), Ariodante, Donna Elvira, Idamante (Idomeneo), Gounod's Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette), Ravel's Conception (L'heure espagnole) and the Countess of Essex in Britten's Gloriana. She recently sang Didon in Les Troyens on tour with Dinis Sousa and appeared in recital with Malcolm Martineau and Sholto Kynoch in the Wigmore Hall. Her first solo album, I will walk with my love (Orchid Classics), with Tanya Blaich, was released in 2020. Future plans included her debut at the Opéra National de Paris, singing Prince Charming in Massenet's Cendrillon.
