Born in Italy Annalisa Piccolo joined the Accademia nazionale di Danza in Rome when she was 15, training in classical ballet and contemporary dance. She danced in productions including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker Suite, The Excelsior, Amor, Phonometrie and Ballo Sport. After finishing her training she joined the ballet at the Staat Operette in Dresden. Later engagements included work with the Posterino Dance Company, Cologne Opera and the Staatstheater in Cottbus, where she was a member of the ensemble for two years, working with choreographers including Oliver Preiß, Jörg Mannes and Nils Christe.
