Jonathan Schmidt is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he danced in new stagings of Tchaikovsky’s Die Zauberin / The Sorceress and Handel’s Orlando, for this new production of Elektra.  Born in Dresden, he graduated from the Palucca University for Dance there in 2016. Whilst still a student he took part in works including Hänsel und Gretel, Daddy’s Song (choreography: Stephan Thoss) and the Nutcracker Suite at the Semperoper in Dresden. He studied for his bachelors at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Frankfurt from 2016 - 2019. During this time he took part in dance projects including Mary Wigman’s Totentanz / Dance of Death, Regina van Berkel’s My/mo/z/art and William Forsythe’s Work within Work. He has been working free-lance since 2019 and enjoys close artistic ties to the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, where he was recently seen in Tristan und Isolde, Jörg Widmann’s Babylon and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite (choreographed by Tim Plegge).
