Valentina Carrasco, who was born in Buenos Aires, has worked with La Fura dels Baus as (co-)director, dramaturge and choreographer since 2000. She was involved in many internationally successful projects including Enescu's Oedipe at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny at the Teatro Real in Madrid and Die Zauberflöte at the Ruhrtriennale. Their award winning production of Le Grand Macabre in Brussels is available on DVD. She was also involved in staging big events including the opening of the Biennale d’art contemporain in Lyon and Beittedine Festival in Beirut. XXX, a work she co-wrote and directed, was seen all over the world for many years. She was choreographer on van Hove's La strada at the Opera Vlaanderen in Ghent and Antwerp and created Stockhausen's Michaels Reise um die Erde / Michael's Journey Round the Earth for the Warsaw Autumn Festival. Work at Theater Kiel has included Die Stumme von Portici. Later this season she directs Les vêpres siciliennes in Rome and Tosca at the Macerata Opera Festival.
