Sami Bill, of German and Finnish birth, studied scenic arts at Hildesheim University. His scenographics, sets, videos and stage projections have led him, alongside work in the free scene, to Theater Koblenz, the Stadttheater in Augsburg, the Wuppertal Bühnen and the Theater an der Parkaue in Berlin and, later on, to places including the Staatsschauspiel in Dresden, the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, the Schauspielhaus in Düsseldorf, Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Nationaltheater in Mannheim, Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and Teatr Bagatela in Krakow. Recent work with the directors Jan Philipp Gloger has included Il turco in Italia at Zurich Opera, Junk at the Deutsche Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, Die Troerinnen at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Rüdiger Pape: Tintenherz / Ink Heart at Schauspiel Frankfurt and Die unendliche Geschichte at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg and Frank Hilbrich: Die Bassariden at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim. The world premiere of Furcht und Ekel / Fear and Disgust – Das Privatleben glücklicher Leute / The Private Lives of Happy People at Schauspiel Stuttgart (director: Jan Gehler) was invited to the 2015 Mühlheimer Theatertagen (a big honour). The production of Momo at the Schauspielhaus in Düsseldorf (director: Rüdiger Pape) was nominated for a 2014 DER FAUST theatre prize. He has worked with the director Nelly Danker before, at the Philharmonie in Luxemburg.
