Dietrich Volle has taken part in many productions since joining the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt in 2007/08. During the 2019/20 season he takes part in four new productions: Lady Macbeth of Mztsensk, Fauré's Penelope, Salome and Der Prinz von Homburg. and repeats his portrayals of Manz in Delius' A Village Romeo and Juliet and Alkade in La Forza del destino. Recent roles for the company have included Dr. Vigelius (Der Ferne Klang / The Distant Sound), Dottore (Manfred Trojahn's Enrico), Kromow (Die lustige Witwe/The Merry Widow), the Doctor (Barber's Vanessa), Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), the Speaker (Die Zauberflöte), Dr. Kolenatý (Die Sache Makropulos), the Music Master (Ariadne auf Naxos), Spencer Coyle (Owen Wingrave), Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier), Der Alte (Reimann's Die Gespenstersonate / Ghost Sonata), Donner (Das Rheingold) and the Duke of Albany (Reimann's Lear). He can be heard on a number of live recordings of operas at Oper Frankfurt – OehmsClassics. He sang  in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Eötvös’ Angels in America (Roy Cohn) and world premiere of Glanert's Caligula (Merea / Lepidus). In 2013 he performed the title role in Berg's Wozzeck at the Mainfrankentheater in Würzburg, where he also took part in the world premiere of Michael Obst's Die andere Seite/The Other Side.
