During Oper Frankfurt's 2019/20 season Andreas Bauer Kanabas can be heard as Philipp II. In Don Carlo, King Marke in a new production of Tristan und Isolde, Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino and the Commendatore in Don Giovanni. Since joining the ensemble in 2013/14 this bass has thrilled audiences with Wagner roles including Daland and Heinrich der Vogler, as Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Jacopo Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra), Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Don Pedro (Meyerbeer's L’Africaine), Escamillo (Carmen), the Watersprite (Rusalka), Teiresias (Oedipus Rex), Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta) and the title role in Bluebeard's Castle. Andreas Bauer Kanabas, a former member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Berlin, appears regularly at theatres around the world including La Scala Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra National and Opéra Comique in Paris, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Dresden's Semperoper, Komische Oper Berlin, Lithuanian National Opera in Riga, the Bolschoi in Moscow, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse and Edinburgh International Festival. Recent concert work has included Ernani in the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and Bluebeard's Castle in the Philharmonie in Cologne. He makes his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London this season, singing Sarastro, sings Philippe II in Don Carlos at Opera Vlaanderen in Antwerp and returns to the Deutsch Oper Berlin for Zacharia in Nabucco.
