During Oper Frankfurt's 2021/22 season Andreas Bauer Kanabas can be heard as Oroveso in Norma, Teiresias in Oedipus Rex, King René (role debut) in Iolanta, Marchese von Calatrava / Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino and King Alinoos in a new production of Dallapiccola's Ulisse. Since joining the ensemble in 2013/14 this bass has thrilled audiences with Wagner roles including Daland, Heinrich der Vogler and King Marke in a new production of Tristan und Isolde, Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), the Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Philipp II (Don Carlo), Jacopo Fiesco (Simon Boccanegra), Don Pedro (Meyerbeer's L’Africaine), Escamillo (Carmen), the Watersprite (Rusalka), Ibn-Hakia (Iolanta) and the title role in Bluebeard's Castle. This former member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Berlin appears regularly at theatres around the world including the Vienna State Opera, Covent Garden, the Bolschoi in Moscow, La Scala Milan, the Opéra National, Opéra Comique and Opéra Bastille in Paris, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Dresden's Semperoper, the Komische and Deutsche Oper Berlin, Lithuanian National Opera in Riga,  Opera Vlaanderen in Antwerp, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse and the Edinburgh International Festival. Other recent engagements have included a Schubert recital at the Wahnfried Concerts in Bayreuth and Heinrich der Vogler in a new production of Lohengrin at the 2021 Tirol Festival in Erl.  He sang the Watersprite in Rusalka at the Teatro Real in Madrid and future plans included his house and role debut as Rocco in Fidelio at the Hamburg State Opera. His first solo CD - Love and Despair (OehmsClassics) - was released in September 2021.
