The young countertenor Ray Chenez is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt, as Irina in this new production of Eötvös’ Tri sestry / Three Sisters. This American artist, and winner of prizes at the George London Awards and Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions, is one of the most aspiring talents in his fach. Recent engagements have included the title role in Handel's Oreste in Halle, the Witch of Endor in Handel's Saul and Teseso in Porpora's Arianna in Nasso at the Theater an der Wien, Sifare in Porpora's Mitridate in Schwetzingen, Nerone in L’incoronazione di Poppea in Bielefeld and Aachen, Athamas in Semele under Christophe Rousset in Royal Festival Hall London and Musikverein in Vienna, Hunahpú in concert performances of Purcell's The Indian Queen under Theodor Currentzis in Geneva, Cologne, Bremen and Dortmund, Nutrice / Amore in Rossi's Orfeo at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Opéra Royal de Versailles and the Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy. Ray Chenez went on an international tour singing Marzia in Vinci’s Catone in Utica to places including Versailles, Hessen's Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, the Bergen International Festival and Theater an der Wien. He joined the Opera Santa Barbara's studio after completing his studies at the State University of New York and Florida State University.
