Jakub Józef Orliński
The Polish countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński is one of the rising stars in his fach. Now he is back in Frankfurt, where he thrilled audiences with the title role in Handel's Rinaldo in the Bockenheimer Depot, last season and this, to sing Unulfo, a role he has sung at the Opéra de Lille, in this new – co-production of Claus Guth's Rodelinda. He also enjoyed great success singing Orimeno in Erismena at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg. Plans include important debuts at the 2019 Glyndebourne Festival, singing Eustazio in Rinaldo, Zurich Opera and San Francisco Opera. He returns to Oper Frankfurt again soon too. He has taken part in concert performances of operas, including appearances at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, where he recently sang in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater under Maxim Emelyanychev, with whose ensemble Il Pomo d’Oro he recorded his first solo album Anima sacra which they then performed on an international tour. Other engagements have included Handel's Messiah in the Philharmonie in Warsaw, with The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in Copenhagen, the Carnegie Hall and with the Houston Symphony and Portland Baroque Orchestra. He is a much sought-after Lieder singer who has appeared in recital with his pianist Michał Biel at venues including the Wigmore Hall in London and they open Oper Frankfurt's 2019/20 Liederabende series in September. This prize winning artist, who appeared at the 2016 Grand Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions studied at the Juilliard School in New York and in Warsaw and is a passionate dancer and prize winning break dancer.
