Franco Vassallo, one of the world’s leading Italian baritones, is back in Frankfurt, where he appeared for the first time as Don Carlos in concert performances of Ernani in 2016/17, to sing the title role in this revival of Rigoletto. Particularly sought-after for Verdi roles, he has made an international name for himself, appearing at theatres including La Scala Milan, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Dresden and Hamburg state operas, in Madrid, Zurich, Amsterdam, Washington and Los Angeles. Recent engagements have included Miller (Luisa Miller) at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Comte Anckarström (Un ballo in maschera) at the Grand Théâtre in Geneva, Michele (Il tabbaro) at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and Barnaba (La Gioconda) at the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. He can be heard soon as Rodrigo in Don Carlo at the Salzburg Easter Festival, the Duke of Nottingham in Roberto Devereux at the Staatstheater in Karlruhe and Amonasro in Aida at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.
