The bass Alfred Reiter has performed many, very varied roles at Oper Frankfurt, including La Roche (Capriccio), Doktor (Wozzeck), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Dansker (Billy Budd), Narbal (Les Troyens), Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande), Trulove (The Rake’s Progress), Graf Waldner (Arabella), Papst Pius IV. / Kardinal Christoph Madruscht (Palestrina - CD - OehmsClassics), Peneios (Daphne), Kalervo (Kullervo), Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Raimondo (Rienzi) and Seneca (L’incoronazione di Poppea). He also took part in the world premiere of Arnulf Hermann's Der Mieter / The Tenant (commissioned by Oper Frankfurt) and a recent new production of Eötvös’ Tri sestry. During the 2019/20 season this long standing member of the ensemble adds three roles to his repertoire in three new productions: the Pope in Shostakovitch's Lady Macbeth von Mtsensk, 5th Jude in Salome and Lucifero in the world premiere of Lucia Ronchetti's Inferno, commissioned by Oper and Schauspielfrankfurt. He studied in Munich and has sung Sarastro at the Bregenz Festival, in Berlin, Munich, Geneva, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo, Graf Waldner at the Nationale Opera Amsterdam and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, where he has also sung Tomaso (Tiefland), the Hermit (Der Freischütz) at the Styriarte Graz and Grand Théâtre in Geneva, King Marke in Geneva, Gurnemanz (Parsifal) at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and Arkel with Welsh National Opera in Hong Kong.
