Ralf Simon is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he has sung in Falstaff, L’Orfeo, Death in Venice and Aus einem Totenhaus / From the House of the Dead (Big Prisoner / Čerevin) to sing Léodès in this new production of Pénélope - Fauré’s only opera. In 2018 he sang the title role in Hoffmanns Erzählungen / The Tales of Hoffmann at Schleswig-Holstein‘s Landestheater and the Duke of Urbino (Eine Nacht in Venedig / A Night in Venice) at Theater Magdeburg. Other recent engagements have included Heinrich der Schreiber (Tannhäuser) at Konzert Theater Bern and Don Buscone (Veremonda) at the Staatstheater in Mainz and in Schwetzingen. His repertoire includes Hans (Die verkaufte Braut / The Bartered Bride), Boris (Katja Kabanowa), Tony (West Side Story), Mozart’s Idomeneo, Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), Lyonel (Martha), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte) and Lenski (Eugene Onegin). Ralf Simon can also be heard on recordings of Das Spitzentuch der Königin / The Queen’s Lace Handkerchief, La Perichole, Lehár’s Das Fürstenkind / The Princeling and Lortzing’s Regina. Concert work has taken him to places including Zürich, Munich, Paris, Portugal and Israel. After studying at the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Frankfurt he joined the Deutsche Oper am Rhein before going under contract to Theater Bremen and Staatsoperette Dresden and spending time in places including Salzburg, Nürnberg, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt.
