Camilla Nylund, who was born in Finland, is one of the most sought after sopranos in the world, particularly for Strauss and Wagner roles. She appears regularly at many leading opera houses including the Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Dresden and Hamburg state operas, the Deutsch Oper Berlin, La Scala Milan, the Opéra National in Paris, Zurich Opera, the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, Finnish National Opera in Helsinki and the Bayreuth and Salzburg festivals singing roles such as Arabella, Salome, Primadonna / Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), the Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier), Kaiserin (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Chrysothemis (Elektra), Elisabeth / Venus (Tannhäuser), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer/The Flying Dutchman), Elsa (Lohengrin) and Sieglinde (Die Walküre). She has performed at Oper Frankfurt often, most recently in recital and as Angèle Didier in concert performances of Der Graf von Luxemburg (CD available: OehmsClassics). She recently enjoyed a triumph singing Marie (role debut) in Wozzeck at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf. Future plans include her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, singing the Marschallin, and a return to the Semperoper in Dresden, where she was made a Kammersängerin, for Agathe in Der Freischütz. Her repertoire also includes Leonore (Fidelio), Weber's Euryanthe, Elisabetta (Don Carlo), Dvořák's Rusalka, Tatiana (Eugen Onegin) and Marietta (Korngold's Die tote Stadt/The Dead City). Camilla Nylund also enjoys a busy concert career, appearing with conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, Marek Janowski, Fabio Luisi, Ingo Metzmacher and Yakov Kreizberg.
