Nika Gorič

Nika Gorič is making her debut at Oper Frankfurt singing Anna in the world premiere of Vito Žuraj’s Blühen / Blossoming in the Bockenheimer Depot. Whilst studying at the Maribor Conservatory of Music and Ballet, the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Graz and the Royal Academy of Music in London she was a member of the Royal Academy Song Circle, a soloist in a series of Bach cantatas performed by the Kohn Foundation and a young artist at the Salzburg and Verbier festivals, the Solti Accademia and an Independent Opera scholarship holder. Awards have included the Queen’s commendation for excellence and the audience prize at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival. This Slovenian soprano has built up a broad and varied repertoire which includes Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Norina (Don Pasquale), Gilda (Rigoletto), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Titania (The Fairy Queen), Aricie (Hippolyte et Aricie), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Christel (Der Vogelhändler / The Bird Seller) and Polly Peachum (Die Dreigroschenoper / A Threepenny Opera). Concert work has included Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Abra (Juditha triumphans) and, most recently, Ginevra in Ariodante with the Ensemble »Il pomo d’oro«, and has taken her to venues including the Elb Philharmonie in Hamburg, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Royal Festival Hall in London, Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Sydney Opera House. She has appeared in recital at the Wigmore Hall, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Midsummer Music Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival and the Leeds Lieder Festival. She appears regularly with the Slovenian Philharmonic and the Ljubljana and Maribor festivals, where she recently appeared in recital with Simon Trpceski.
