This young American tenor sang his first Almavivas in Il barbiere di Siviglia on tour with Glyndebourne in the autumn of 2018. In 2018/19 he made his debut at Norske Opera in Oslo, singing Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore and sang the title role in Bernstein's Candide, a role he enjoyed huge success with at Los Angeles Opera, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and Opéra de Marseille. He sang Lindoro in L'italiana in Algeri at Sanfa Fe Opera, where he returns for Almaviva. Whilst studying at the University of Oklahoma, Shepherd School of Music, Rice University and the Seagle Music Colony's summer programme he sang roles including Don Ottavio, Eurimaco (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria) and the title role in Britten's Albert Herring. Jack Swanson has enjoyed great success in many competitions and won Santa Fe's Richard Tucker Memorial Prize twice. He recently made his debut at Cologne Opera as Sam Kaplan in Weill's Street Scene and sang Alfred in Die Fledermaus at Palm Beach Opera. Later this season he sings Belmonte at Opera Omaha and the title role in the world premiere of Paola Prestini's Edward Tulane at Minnesota Opera.
