Anthony Robin Schneider
The Austrian / New Zealand bass Anthony Robin Schneider made his debut at Oper Frankfurt in 2018/19, as the Landlord in a wonderful new production of Schreker's Der ferne Klang / The Distant Sound, before joining the ensemble last season. In 2020/21 he can be seen again as the finest Bartolo you have ever heard in Le nozze di Figaro and an Administrator / Sergeant in Lady Macbeth von Mzensk, Cirillo and the King in new productions of Giordano's Fedora and Verdi's Aida and Fafner in Siegfried. He also sang a Monk / Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlo) and Sparafucile (Rigoletto) for the company and appeared in recital in the Holzfoyer. The corona shutdown prevented him from singing the Commendatore in Don Giovanni in Frankfurt and King Heinrich in a new production of Lohengrin at the Tirol Festival in Erl. He trained at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia and started his career as a member of Houston Grand Opera's opera studio, where he returns this season to sing Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte) and 1st Nazarene in Salome. Recent engagements have included Hector's Ghost (Les Troyens) at the Vienna State Opera, Truffaldin (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Santa Fe Opera and with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Baron / Grand Inquisitor (Candide) in Santa Fe, Sacristan (Tosca), Fabrizio (Rossini's La pietra del paragone), Death (Der Kaiser von Atlantis) and Duc de Hoël (Le vin herbé) at Wolf Trap Opera.
