Brenda Rae is back to sing Elvira in Bellini's I Puritani, a role she made her own when she sang it for the first time when this production opened in 2018. Her many roles at Oper Frankfurt, including Lucia di Lammermoor, Amina (La sonnambula), Gilda (Rigoletto), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos), Zdenka (Arabella) and Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) made her a great favourite with audiences and press alike during her years as a member of the Ensemble. She recently made two important debuts at the Teatro Real in Madrid, with Adina (L'elisir d'amore), and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, with Poppea (Agrippina). Plans this season include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Met and Konstanze at the Vienna State Opera. She can also be heard again as Donna Anna at the Teatro Real in Madrid and makes her debuts at Opera San Antonio, singing the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London. This award winning artist has sung Zerbinetta at the Munich, Berlin and Hamburg state Operas, Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) at Zurich Opera, Lucia at the Vienna State Opera and Opera Philadelphia, Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress) at the Opéra national de Paris, Semele at Seattle Opera, Armida (Rinaldo) at the Glyndebourne Festival and Berg’s Lulu for English National Opera.
