Juanita Lascarro, a valued member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt for many years, can be heard during the 2020/21 season as Grete in a new production of Zemlinsky's Der Traumgörge / Görge the Dreamer. Last season she enjoyed great success in the title roles of Martinů's Julietta (CD - OehmsClassics) and Flotow's Martha and in the Křenek triple bill. These were preceded by  Hanna Glawari (role debut) in Die lustige Witwe / The Merry Widow and a role in new production of Neuwirth's Lost Highway.  Other recent roles for the company have included Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Marchesa Matilda Spina in the first ever performances in Frankfurt of Trojahn's Enrico. This soprano, who was born in Columbia, sang many important roles for the first time in Frankfurt, including the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Micaëla (Carmen), Martinů's Julietta and Ninetta (Die diebische Elster / The Thieving Magpie). Other roles in recent seasons have included the soprano in staged performances of the Messiah, the title roles in Manon, Lulu, Agrippina, and Daphne, Violetta (La Traviata), Donna Clara (Zemlinsky's Der Zwerg / The Dwarf, CD - OehmsClassics), Agilea (Handel's Teseo), Ilia (Idomeneo), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte). Guest engagements have included appearances at the Berlin, Munich and Vienna state operas, Theater Freiburg, Zürich Opera, the Theater an der Wien, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opéra National de Paris, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Teatro Real in Madrid, Palma di Mallorca and Bogotá. She has also sung Strauss’ Daphne under Christian Thielemann at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Ingo Metzmacher at the Nationale Opera and Edo de Waart, in concert, in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. An extensive discography documents her broad and varied repertoire.
