Katharina Magiera, who studied in Frankfurt with Hedwig Fassbender, has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2009/10.  During the 2022/23 season you can hear her as 3rd Lady and a Maid in new productions of Die Zauberflöte and Elektra, Hänsel and she repeats her wonderful portrayal of Amastre in Xerxes. Last season she sang Jokaste (role debut) in Oedipus Rex, the Witch in our wonderful production of Humperdinck's Königskinder, Circe / Melantho in our  »Rediscovery of the Year 2020« (Opernwelt) production of Dallapiccola's Ulisse and Frugola (Il Tabarro) and Ciesa (Gianni Schicchi). Roles in recent seasons have included Nancy (Flotow's Martha - CD available - OehmsClassics), Narrator / St. Katherine (La Damoiselle élue / Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher), Eduige (Rodelinda), Emilia (Verdi's Otello) and the Sphinx in Enescu's Oedipe. Her repertoire includes Ježibaba (Rusalka), Humperdinck's Hänsel, Margret (Wozzeck - available on CD - OehmsClassics), 3rd Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Marzelline (Le nozze di Figaro), Annina (Der Rosenkavalier), Lisa (Weinberg's Die Passagierin / The (female) Passenger), Teresa (La sonnambula), Maddalena (Rigoletto) and Wanja (Glinka's Iwan Sussanin). She has also appeared in Frankfurt in recital (Goethe CD available - OehmsClassics. She sang the Witch and Flosshilde in new productions of Humperdinck's Königskinder and Das Rheingold, the start of a new Ring, at the 2021 Tirol Summer Festival in Erl and she made her debut with the Chœur and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, under Krzysztof Urbański. Guest engagements have included appearances at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Theater an der Wien, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Semperoper in Dresden, Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, Beijing Music Festival and Salzburg Easter Festival, working with conductors including Christian Thielemann, Ádám Fischer and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
