The bass Alfred Reiter has been a member of the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt since 2008/09, during which time he has sung many, varied roles, including Dansker (Billy Budd), Narbal (Les Troyens), Arkel (Pelléas et Mélisande), Trulove (The Rake's Progress), Graf Waldner (Arabella), Truffaldin (Ariadne auf Naxos), Pope Pius IV / Carinal Christoph Madruscht (Palestrina - available on CD - OehmsClassics), Peneios (Daphne), Kalervo (Kullervo), Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Raimondo (Rienzi - available on CD - OehmsClassics), Seneca (L'incoronazione di Poppea) and took part in the world premiere of Arnulf Hermann's Der Mieter / The Tenant.  During the 2018/19 season he adds two new roles, in two new productions, to his repertoire: Anfisa in Eötvös' Tre sestri / Three Sisters and the Archbishop in Szymanowski's Król Roger / King Roger and repeats his wonderful portrayals of La Roche in Capriccio, the Doctor in Wozzeck and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte.  He studied in Munich and is in great demand as Sarastro, which he has sung at places including the Bregenz Festival, in Berlin, Munich, Geneva, Vienna, Salzburg, Paris, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tokyo. He has also sung sung Graf Waldner at the Nationale Opera in Amsterdam, Fasolt, Graf Waldner and Tomaso (Tiefland) at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Hermit (Der Freischütz) at the Styriarte in Graz, Grand Théâtre Geneva, where he has also sung King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), and Staatsoper Berlin, Gurnemanz (Parsifal) at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and Arkel in Pelléas et Mélisande with Welsh National Opera in Hong Kong.
