The American soprano Sydney Mancasola, a member of the ensemble since 2016/17, can be heard this season singing Roxana in the new production of Szymanowski's Król Roger / King Roger, Mozart's Susanna and Bizet's Frasquita. She will also make her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, singing Pamina, a role she has sung in Frankfurt. Recent roles in new productions with which she thrilled audiences in Frankfurt have included Gilda (Rigoletto), which she has also sung at English National Opera in London, the Italian Singer in (Capriccio), First Niece (Peter Grimes) and Musetta in a revival of La Bohème. Sydney Mancasola appears regularly in America, most recently singing her first Violettas (La traviata) at the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and Manon at Des Moines Metro Opera. She made her triumphant European debut at the Komische Oper Berlin singing the three lead female roles in Offenbach's Les Contes d’Hoffmann, which was followed by Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Pamina and Servilia (concert performances of La clemenza di Tito). Other recent engagements have included appearances at Florida Grand Opera, Fort Worth Opera, the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Brevard Music Center and Oberlin Opera Theatre and Zdenka (cover) in a production of Strauss' Arabella at Santa Fe Opera. International attention was drawn to her when she won the Grand Final of the Metropolitan Opera's 2013 National Council Auditions.
