The coloratura soprano Nora Friedrichs, winner of the 2014 Stella Maris Singing Competition, joined the ensemble at the Komische Oper Berlin at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, during which her roles include Blonde, the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Atalanta (Xerxes), Le feu / Nightingale (L'Enfant et les sortilèges), and Iris (Semele). Since leaving the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt she returned as a guest to sing Fiakermilli in Arabella last season. Other roles in Frankfurt were Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Crested Fowl / Bar Keeper's Wife (Das schlaue Füchslein/The Cunning Little Vixen), Taumännchen/Dew Fairy / Sandmännchen/Sandman (Hänsel und Gretel), Damigella / Fortuna (L’incoronazione di Poppea) and Yvette (Weinberg's Die Passagierin/The (female) Passenger). Recent roles at the Staatsoper in Berlin were the Queen of the Night and Oscar in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera. Roles sung while she was still a student at the University for Music and Theatre in Hamburg included Pamina / Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) at Opera Kiel. She took part in a Hamburg State Opera's studio production of Rameau's Les Indes Galantes and, in 2010, sang the lead role in Douglas Moore's Gallantry.
